Solar Panel Costs Why It Pays To Build Solar Panels Yourself

Solar panel costs is something that can't be determined without taking a few factors into consideration. It would be like trying to see how much it would costs to feed twenty people. Will we be feeding them hot-dogs or steaks? Solar panel costs can first be determined by figuring out how much power your house uses. Some houses use very little power while others use a lot.

Before we are able to design a system we have to know:

• You need to look on your power bill to see how much electricity your house uses each month. This is called kilowatt hours, and you should be able to find this information on your electrical bill.

• Where you live is one factor, why you may ask. Well we use this information to figure out how many hours the sun shines within the day. This will change from season to season too of coarse.

• Another thing to think about is where you want to put the panels. If you're living within the United States generally on your roof facing south is a preferable installation area.

If you're interested in buying a commercial home solar system then usually you can find a medium sized grid-tie system that will produce around five hundred kilowatts a month. These systems usually sell for about ten thousand dollars not including a 30% tax credit you will be eligible for and other rebate offers your state might offer. This can be pretty pricey for your average homeowner like me and I have found that when you plan and build your own home solar system you will save thousands of dollars and it will pay for itself a lot quicker.

The beautiful thing about doing it all yourself is you can build it piece by piece a little bit at a time. Set your own pace and save yourself thousands of dollars. Not to mention not having to worry about power outages again or knowing that you're polluting the planet. You can sell excess energy back into the power grid and actually get a check from the utility company every month instead of having to send them one. I have also found that combining wind and solar together is great for living truly off the grid and self-sufficient. Solar panel costs can start getting so high and outrageous  it makes sense to build them yourself.

If you're a beginner or have no idea even where to start then I would strongly recommend buying a do-it-yourself home energy guide. I wish I would've bought myself one in the beginning and didn't have to learn the hard way. It is very easy to setup your own home solar power system, or home wind power system if you put a little bit of effort in it and have the right guide. I have tried out a few different home green energy guides but most were just junk. A couple were pretty good though and one even included instructional videos that made the process so easy a high school student could follow it.

Building solar panels can be a fun experience for the whole family it was for mine. Invest in your future and secure your homes power today by getting starting on building your own solar panels now. I provide a lot of information and experience in making my home self-sufficient so check out the rest of my articles.

Build A Wind Turbine For Under $200

Build A Wind Turbine For Under $200

Hello this article is going to explain how building a wind turbine to power your home can be a fun and easy endeavor. It will also lower or eliminate your monthly power bill, and I promise you won't regret it.

Home wind power is starting to become a viable alternative energy source. A home built wind turbine will provide free electricity for your residence from passing wind even as low as 7 mph. These are very inexpensive to build and my first home wind turbine costs me less than one hundred dollars. It's easy and can be done by a teenager in a day or two. Almost anyone can build a wind turbine.

The original windmills were designed to grind grains like wheat or corn. They were also used to pump water out of the ground, but through time have been constantly re-invented and re-innovated to produce electricity. Even as far back as the 1920's and 1930's small farm homes, and ranches were using home wind turbines for power. They lived far out and didn't have access to the electrical grid. Modern wind turbines are a lot more efficient and lightweight. The blades are made mostly of carbon fiber now and is lightweight and heavy duty. The manufactured home wind turbines can be a smart investment but I prefer to build them myself because it's fun and they pay for themselves a lot sooner. Once the blades catch the wind and turn the shaft the generator produces a D/C electrical current. This current is caught and stored, then it can be used to power your home or charge your electric car.

With wind turbines the size matters when determining it's power output. I can show you how to build a wind turbine for very little money too if someone is interested and doesn't mind putting out a little bit of effort.

There are a few basics to know when you plan to build a wind turbine. A generator, a mount, blades, and a rotor assembly are needed in constructing a home wind turbine. The average person can build their own blades but know that it is very important that the blades and the rotor are the exact shape and meet the exact requirements to work properly. Most people will decide to buy this already made when they go to build a wind turbine. If you do decide to build the blades yourself then take your time on them and make sure they meet the right specifications. There's tons of blueprints floating around on the net but if you're a beginner I STRONGLY recommend buying a green do-it-yourself energy guide. The best rotation and stability has been found in the traditional three bladed design you see on most home wind turbines.

Once you have got your blades and rotar done you will want to mount them to a platform that can spin in the wind. The reason for this is the blades have to be facing the wind to turn, and when the wind changes direction the turbine has to be able to spin and swivel with the wind. A vertical rudder (or tail) should be attached to the rear of your mount to keep the turbine aligned in the wind.

All the basics are done and now you have to find the right generator for your home wind turbine. It will depend on the area you live in and the power output desired. I recommend finding a permanent magnet generator to use for your home wind turbine and fits your size needs.

My first home wind turbine consisted of plastic pvc blades mounted to an old D/C motor that came out of an old washer (also found in old tread-mills). It was mounted to a basic wooden frame and wooden tail. It was hardmounted on a heavy duty pole that swivled at the base, thus making the entire generator itself one solid peice. It cost me less than one hundred dollars to build and paid for itself in less than a month. You too can build a wind turbine for your home it's really easy.

Once constructed you can use the D/C electrical current produced by your home wind turbine to charge a battery bank giving you constact access to a steady electrical current you can use to power your home appliances. Youi can also find A/C generators that could be ran straight into an inverter to power standard household appliances. I prefer using D/C generators to charge a battery bank giving me constant steady power.

Build Wind Turbines Cheap and Easily

My friend came to me and said he was going to build wind turbines. I was pretty impressed when he did it. In all truth it really isn't that complicated when it comes to building wind turbines and many people are starting to take the challenge and build their own wind turbines. This is a real cost-effective means of utilizing renewable energy by taking advantage of the wind blowing. You can't just snap your fingers and build one but with the proper guidance and plans you can be building wind turbines easily in no time.

Before starting to build wind turbines, it is a wise decision to purchase an instructional guide to follow. Don't forget that you get what you pay for in all things including the plans to building a wind turbine. You want a guide that's easy to read and follow with detailed instructions or even videos. There is also a lot of free information scattered about on the internet in forums and blog posts that could help in guiding you to build a wind turbine.

Before jumping in you should know that there are four basic components with wind turbines. The tower (or mount), batteries, turbine and tail will all need to be properly aligned. You'll need simple tools like a drill, saw, and wrenches. The need for other simple tools may also arise during the build process depending on your needs in the wind turbine building process.

The main part you will need is the motor itself. For continued efficiency and use the motors will require minor maintenance and oiling from time to time. This is really a small price to pay for the green energy these wind turbines produce. You will also need a decent workspace for you to work in that's comfortable enough for you. Depending on how big of a generator you're wanting to build your propeller blades could be anywhere between 2-8 inches in diameter and up to or even exceeding 4 feet in length.

It's takes a little work and effort to build a wind turbine, but there really isn't anything complicated about the build and can be fairly inexpensive compared to high dollar ''professional'' systems. The knowledge you'll gain is worth something alone with the rising demand worldwide for technicians and workers for commercial systems. Building wind turbines for yourself is taking full advantage of an opportunity to live self-sufficiently and off the grid.

I always like to tell my friends and neighbors that if every American household would take these plans and implement them then we would solve the energy crisis in the U.S.A and be one step closer to doing the same for the rest of the people in the world. Oh yea and we would also make a lot of utility companies mad in the process.
